This is our beloved old cook stove.  It needed some repair and had started smoking quite a bit.  I found it hard to breath and so we decided to make a change.  We had the stove working for about 35 years and it was the center piece during the winter months.  When the kids were little they would run out of the shower with a towel wrapped around them and open the door to the oven and sit on the little ledge.  It was just warm and cozy. Quite often we would pull our chairs up to it and rest our feet of the shelf and read stories aloud while drinking hot chocolate.  Everyone loved the old cook stove.  I made bread in it and cooked lots of meals on the top.  The method of cooking was simply to push pots around the top from the hot side to the cooler side instead of pushing buttons to lower the heat.

It was a sad day when it left.  Tucker and Lavena wanted it, and I could not think of a better way to have it find a new home.   It comes apart in a lot of pieces which made it easier to transport.  They took it to Thorndike, Maine to a wonderful repair shop.  They did an incredible job fixing it and replacing parts that were broken ( which was why is was smoking)

This is the replacement stove, which is very nice and I can still do some cooking on it.  It will hold a fire much longer and you can watch the flame, which is very nice on a cold day.
With in a week Tucker and Lavena had the stove back and in their house.  It is all restored and parts replaced that had been damaged from years of use.  I am thrilled that they wanted it and have it ready to move into their home someday.   I hope that I will again get a chance to cook on it and sit by it.  It was a huge part of our lives living in the mountains, and we enjoyed all the family gathering around it.
