Our trip to Colonial Williamsburg to celebrate our 40th Anniversary was awesome!!!!!  We spent the week traveling around to many historical sites and enjoying the warm weather.  Life in the early years of our country must have been hard, but it was evident that religion was a vital part.   This is an early church, which had no heat source, but met basic  shelter needs.
It was really cool to see these building with the old rolled glass in the windows and iron hinges.  It is interesting that for limited tools they had incredible detail in some of their wood work.

I really like this shot because you are looking through the building to the other wall of the Capital.

A lot of history happened here.  It is amazing the strength, courage and vision people had in the 17th and 18th Centuries.

The sun was shining everyday, and the birds were singing.  We thought that it was very warm, but the local people were not so convinced.    We were really in the preseason period so we were able to sit in on many tours easily.  We could see ourselves being a part of a living museum someday.

The kitchen is the most interesting place to me.  Many of these building have been rebuilt a couple of times due to fires.

This was the first day that the outdoor brick oven was being used.  The lady was preparing small rolls to bake and at this point getting the oven up to temperature.   She shared that during the summer the heat was overwhelming.

As a living museum, they make the brick as they did 3+ centuries and use the it in their building.

There is more to come.  It was a great 40th anniversary trip and one we will treasure forever.
