I rode my bike to school today and met another teacher who also is a bike trekker.
We rode out to North Pond and kayaked to Round Pond where the lily pads are prolific.
This is a pitcher plant with a seed pod.
The pitcher plant is a meat eater. It catches bugs in a sugary liquid and dissolves them. Once inside the plant there are tiny hairs pointing downward so the insect can't get out. This is the only pond where I have found these plants.
This is an underwater shot
Kate was the captain of our SAD 44 Bike Trek Team. We swam for a while and then rode back home just before a rain storm let loose.
What amazing pictures!
